Support coordination

Helping you chart your own path with the NDIS.

Working together.....Walking together......

My background is largely working with and supporting people with Mental Health conditions, Acquired Brain Injury and in the Aged Care setting. I have worked in the Mental Health and Disability sector for over 14 years.

For many people the NDIS can be confusing and daunting, with lots of information and strange terms. Unfortunately it doesn't come with a map and a compass. So the job of the Support Coordinator is to assist you to better understand the information and language to make the most of your NDIS plan. With understanding you are better placed to make choices that best suit you and over time you will be able to manage your plan and services yourself.

It is important to understand it is YOUR NDIS plan and you have Choice and Control regarding the services and people who will work with you in achieving your NDIS goals. This includes the choosing your Support Coordinator.

  • About me......

After many years living in a major city I decided it was time to make the change I had wanted for a long time. So I moved to the Toowoomba region and into a rural setting some 18 years ago.

Along with the move came a change of career, moving out of the IT sector into Human Services and NDIS Support Coordination. Why? Social justice is why. Supporting people to find voice and purpose for themselves. Whatever that means for the person.

I have experienced difficulties with Mental Health in my family and in my own life. It is perhaps more common than many would realise and broadly not well understood. My approach is simply "meet me where I am today". So if it is a good day, great. If it is not such a good day that is fine too.

  • Independent and Experienced

This means I am not tied to any services or organisations, so I work solely for you to get the best from your NDIS plan.

I have been working as an NDIS Support Coordinator since the NDIS started in Toowoomba. I have worked with over 60 NDIS participants to get the support, equipment and the plan outcomes to help them achieve their goals. Sometimes this can include helping you with assessments and reports to provide evidence to the NDIS if you are needing something not in your plan.

How Does It Work?

Step 1

If you have Support Coordination or Recovery Coach* funded in your plan you can choose your Support Coordinator.

*Unless a stated item in your plan Recovery Coach can be used flexibly for Support Coordination.

Step 2

Let's get to know one another. It is important you feel comfortable with the person who will be helping you navigate this NDIS thing. So we can have a chat face to face, via Zoom or over the phone. What ever suits you best. I am also happy to speak with the people who support you in your family or the community.

I will go through my obligations and responsibilities, provide information about what you can expect. Also your responsibilities when working with a NDIS funded service.

Step 3

Time for me to get to work based on your choices. This might included finding support services or allied health services, identifying community groups/special interest groups you would like to connect with.

One of the most important things I will do is help you prepare for your NDIS review.
